Add/Remove Program still shows entry after uninstall ?

This is one of the common problem which I used to face in college times. Some of the software used to still have the entry in Add / Remove section of windows XP even if I have used the un-installer to remove the application or program. Here is a quick solution to remove them from Add / Remove Section

  • Type regedit in your run dialog box [Win Key + R]
  • Now look for the this string HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\uninstall.
  • If the software name is still here which you removed already, delete it from here.
  • This will delete it’s entry from the windows ADD/ Remove Section

This should work on Windows Vista as well though I have not tested it yet. I will update here If I do.

TIP: Always use Add/Remove utility of Windows XP.Vista to remove program.
