We all use tabs when it comes to browsers but have you ever imagined how many tabs you have which is open for a long time and you had forgotten about it ? Reasons could be many, I might like to refer it sometimes later, I keep it open all the time etc.

However if you feel like you do forget open tabs a lot, Aging Tabs is a good solution to track it. This Firefox extension lets you change colour of the tab depending on any of the factors :

When you switch tabs too often.

When a URL of the tab changes.

or Just plan age it with time every few second. ( This is most useful ).

Like you see in the image I am tracking according to how long it is open ( the last option ) and I get to know how many unused tabs are open and I can go close the one which I dont need it or simply bookmark it. Whats the advantage ? Reduce the clutter, having sometime doesnt mean its good. Too many tabs can make you less productive for sure.

Here the options for Aging tabs :

It also highlights the selected tab which makes sure you dont get confused with other tabs and you can select colours including the amount of colour to be added per step. Once you select the tab again, the age is reset to zero changing the colour to default one. Install Aging Tabs from here

Copying text from a webpage is often required, and no doubt this task is pretty simple. You need to select the text and copy it either by right click menu or simply by ‘Ctrl+c’.

Here is another simpler way to do this task; AutoCopy is a FF add-on which automatically places the text on clipboard ready to paste it anywhere.

Install it just like any other FF add-on, and later whenever you want to copy some text from a webpage, select the text and it is ready for you to paste it anywhere.

Have a look at this animation –

AutoCopy is definitely one of the finest add-on I have ever seen. If you require copying several text pieces while you’re working, this definitely is a great choice.

Install AutoCopy

I keep downloading images while surfing the internet, and sometimes it needs loads of patience, in order to download multiple images which are being displayed on a webpage.

While reading this awesome post on Ghacks, I came to know about Quick Image Downloader, which is a Firefox add-on and can download all the images from any webpage in one go.

All you have to do is to install this add-on like any other Firefox add-on, and after restarting your browser you will get to see a small download arrow button in bottom-right corner of the FF.

Now, whenever you are on a webpage, simply click this down arrow button to grab all the images on your HDD, once clicked, it asks for the folder where you want to download these images, browse to give then path, and chill.

And later you can check your folder to see all the downloaded images.

Quick Image Downloader, works fine and can download the images which are linked to some other webpage as well.

However, an option in settings to decide the size of image (in dimension or in size) is definitely a requirement, so as to save it from downloading useless icon and logo images.

In spite of the fact that there is a room for improvement, this add-on is a boon for people who somehow are indulged in downloading images from webpages.

Install Quick Image Downloader

This is an excellent add on for people who use Firefox and allows it to remember login information for sites they visit. Password Exporters is a Firefox add-on which allows you to export all the username, password, site name, submit action etc from out of Firefox into XML or CSV format and then import it any other computer you want to use using the same plugin.

After installation you can find the exporter /importer under security tab

The good part is that you can encrypt or obfuscate your password while exporting to avoid clear display of your password and login information. It also allows you to export and import disabled host to avoid adding it again.

Once obfuscate your saved xml will look like this.

Get the extension from here

Many a time I have heard people ( From my sister specially ) that Internet Explorer crashes every time she tries to launch it. Well it is difficult to find the exact reason but there are few ways to fix it.

Try doing a system restore.

Try removing IE from Add and Remove Programs.

Try Fixing any DLL problems with cleaners like CCleaner.

Press the panic Button, Run a repair mode by using Windows Bootable CD or DVD.

Dont install any damn plugin which you are not sure of with IE. In case you have try to uninstall them one by one to find which one has an issue.

And here is the recent one, try Fix IE Utility .

Fix IE utility tries fixing IE crashes by re-register around 89 dll & ocx files, which are required for the smooth running of Internet Explorer.

Google Chrome Browser has got a Bookmarks’s Sync feature which lets you synchronize your bookmarks across computers. I started using it today and as a surprise it asked me to view those bookmarks in Google Docs.

Yes you got it right. All your Bookmarks are saved in a special folder in your Google Docs Account which you can view it any time and open links right from there. I saw this when I opened a new tab.

However the drawback is you cannot edit any of those bookmarks and neither you can share the special Google chrome folder by any means. Since the folder is only for you all share links get disabled when you right click on it

The advantage of putting this in google doc is that even if you don’t have Chrome Browser you can access your Chrome’s Bookmark on the web any time and the obvious disadvantage is that you cannot edit it here but only on any of the computer once you are signed in. What do you think ?
