After we found the list of IFSC codes which is used as one of the criteria while withdrawing your funds to Indian banks we almost over looked one more factor NEFT or National Electronic Funds Transfer. PayPal Says

PayPal uses the National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) system. Please provide the IFSC code of a participating branch location. If you provide an IFSC code from a bank branch that is not part of the NEFT network, your withdrawal will not be completed and a return fee will be charged

Looking for it I found a useful at RBI ( Reserve Bank Of India ) site which tell’s us all about NEFT . I have taken up 3 important questions from there

Q.1. What is NEFT System?

Ans: National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) system is a nation wide funds transfer system to facilitate transfer of funds from any bank branch to any other bank branch.

Q. 2. Are all bank branches in the system part of the funds transfer network?
Ans: No. As on December 29, 2007, 34510 branches of 82 banks are participating. Steps are being taken to widen the coverage both in terms of banks and branches.

Q.10. How I will know which are the branches participating in the NEFT?

Ans: RBI publishes the list of bank branches participating in the NEFT on its website i.e. http://www.rbi.org.in/scripts/neft.aspx

You can take up the excel file from the link above which has the banks which can be really used with PayPal. I hope that helps lot of people on this

Visual Search works out a lot better when it comes to images rather than text and when it comes to shopping it can make your life a lot easier. oSkope is one such search engine that stands out of the crowd and can make your shopping a lot easier. Here are some feature before I show more details.

Integrated with online shops like Amazon, Ebay.

Two of the Search results List view and graph are good if you are looking for details and a comparison between selected products.

You can click on the product to see more details before you finally opt out to move to the online shop.

It also provides “My Folder ” or you can call it as your shopping cart. This folder you can email to your friend or yourself to see it later on.

The advantage I see is you can search both the online shops ( amazon and ebay ) at same place though not simultaneously which they can take it as enhancement point if possible. Now time for some detailed images.

Along with the online shopping it also allows you to search through flickr but to my analysis it works out best for online shopping. Try oSkope Now

Sending local and std messages in India is still costly and charges any where around 1 to 2 INR. Last couple of weeks I had been feeling the hype of sending free SMS all over India as I am getting a lot of messages from couple of sites regularly. On further analysis and talks with my friends and We found 2 sites which seems to be best from sending FREE SMS to anywhere India.

However They are not absolutely free. It does not cost you money but here is the inside story of Sending Free SMS to India Works:

How these services are able to send SMS for free ?

Actually they dont. They have come up with a nice idea of allowing the users to use a part of message say 80 characters of 160 allowed and rest is used for advertising. Smart move!. So they collect the money from advertisers and we were surprised that one of the site sends contextual advertisements.

Some of the sites allows you to send sms if you refer 3 more friends. Thats another good way to increase the popularity of the site but it does breaches the privacy of people who dont like this kind of stuff. So we picked up finally 2 sites which works on the base of advertisement.

SMS7.IN :

Bulk SMS

Scheduled SMS

400 characters SMS

Phone book support.

Create groups

Read Complete details here

AOL.IN Desktop SMS

AOL.IN now allows you to send free sms to India from Desktop. Read complete details here

Google SMS channel :

Google SMS channel now allow you to create group of your friends and then send sms to them any time for free. Read More details on how to do it here

160by2

As the name says they break up messages into 2 parts. 80 for you and 80 for advertisement. So far I have seen this service more popular and reliable. Here are some facts they provide:

Based on the recipient’s location, the time of the SMS sent and the text of your SMS message,160by2 delivers the most relevant advertisement.

160by2 enables YOU to send maximum of 50 messages a day subject to fair use policy up to 80 characters long,to any mobile user within India, without any riders.

You can send only 10 messages to one particular number in a day

Send Free sms through 160by2.com

Way2SMS

This works on the same principle of 160by2, however it allows you to send sms of 92 charcter length.

Out of the 160 characters of a standard SMS, Way2SMS offers only 92 characters to the User to send out their personal SMS. The rest of the characters are appended with an Advertisement or Mobitisement.

Send Messages to the Group contacts with single click

Send Free sms through way2sms

PayPal included transfer of money to Indian Banks accounts directly. That was a great news but in transfer process you will need IFSC code of the particular bank branch where you wish to transfer money. On request of one the guy MRINAL KANT BALODI in comments I was able to find the listed ifsc code on ICICI bank sites.

Here are the details:

Follow the Receiving Funds via ICICI Bank RAPID Remittance: ( click to open) .

At the end of the page you will see “Please Click here to view list of Banks and Bank Branches enabled for RTGS transactions and their IFSC codes”

That links will start a download process of a 6MB excel file which contains RTGS and IFSC codes of Indian Banks.

However a word of caution., Please call your bank branch and get the code from them directly of if you are using this file, again verify it. I don’t think these codes will change but when it comes to money, be cautious.

What is RTGS ?

Real time gross settlement (RTGS) system, designed to make inter-bank payments and receipts safe, transparent and efficient

What is IFSC ?

Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is an alpha numeric code designed to uniquely identify the bank-branches in India. This is 11 digit code with first 4 characters representing the banks code, the next character reserved as control character (Presently 0 appears in the fifth position) and remaining 6 characters to identify the branch. The MICR code has 9 digits to identify the bank-branch.

Disclaimer: I hold no responsibility about this numbers listed in files. Kindly confirm with you bank branch on the first hand

Getting a check from PayPal is one of the ways non-us citizens had been using to get money, A good sign now PayPal allows you to withdraw money into your debit card account directly at a minimal charge of 5$ within 5-7 business days..The Debit Cards (also called check cards, ATM cards, or banking cards) are accepted if they have a Visa or MasterCard logo. I discovered this today when I was thinking to get a Check. This is a big news and now it will be easy to get money. I hope Google Adsense also allows this.

Update: Paypal Now Allows to transfer money to Indian Bank accounts ( click to read)

I am not sure which counties have been covered in this but one of help line says

“Members in Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Estonia, Gibraltar, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Philippines, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Uruguay, can withdraw funds to credit cards that are withdraw eligible. You should allow 5-7 business days for your funds to post to your card, but may take more time, depending on your bank’s policies”

Here are the snapshots. I am waiting for my debit card which should be coming soon and then I will add it and get my money
