Welcome to the 13th episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series. and Today’s guest is Mayank from ReviewSaurus who blogs with an intention of sharing knowledge and information of computers with others.Lets talk to him and understand what he wants to say to us and about technology blogging and his experience.

What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

I started blogging @ ReviewSaurus as a hobby and thought of earning some money out of blogging. Because Technology fascinates me and also I was working as a technical support engineer for a UK based Internet service provider and always wanted to help people who don’t know much about computers, so decided to start the technology blog.

How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

I started to write tips and tricks, software reviews and reviews about various web sites which could help the readers in making their day to day computing simple but now I’ve divided all these three sections in three different blogs and these blogs focus on a specific categories and that helps users looking for specific information accordingly.

ReviewSaurus concentrates on honest software reviews.TipsoSaurus concentrates on simple tips and tricks on computers, to help users in simplifying the day to day computer tasks StartupSaurus (will be launched by end of this week) concentrates on profiling the new startups which allow users to socialize, do desktop related tasks online.

Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

Constant flow of posts and interaction with the readers is most important in tech blogging. It’s actually crucial in each type of blogging, blogging is all about interacting with readers and no blogger can be successful if they miss on these points.

Before making a post how you analyze it ?

I ensure that the posts will be of some value to the readers in some way or the other. I ask question to myself that whether the post I’m making will help my readers in any way or not. If I get the answer in negative then I drop the idea of making the post otherwise I go ahead and write the posts.

What kind of readers you are targeting ?

I target those readers, who have got limited knowledge about computers and interested in enhancing it.

How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

I keep track of latest technology news through RSS feeds and by reading various blogs. I download the software which make my life simple in day to day task and that’s what I tend to think for my readers too.

How you measure that readers have grown with your blog in terms of knowledge?

It’s the feedback of readers which ensures that my readers have grown with my blog in terms of knowledge. I regularly get emails and I chat with my blog readers through various email clients and through comments and when they tell me that the blog has helped them that gives the ultimate satisfaction which a bloggers seeks through blogging.

How you target new visitors to become a reader ?

I ensure that I reply to their requests and questions regularly. And because I’ve diversified the blogs, so I’m targeting the users on specific niche which helps me to serve them better.

How you see you and your blog after 5 yrs ?

I’m really not sure about it, but yes I’ve planned to serve the readers better by starting my own company. Blogging Saurus is the company which is basically a network of Technology blogs, So I hope that my readers will keep on enjoying the content from this network in coming years ahead!

Sharing Knowledge, writing on software and tips . That’s what his goal is .I would request all my readers to visit his site and take a look around on his articles Visit his blog at Review Saurus and share some ideas and discuss things with him for sure. Do share your views and feel free to ask anything that hits your mind. Thanks a lot for your time and hope you are enjoying the series.

Welcome to the 12th episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series. and Today’s guest is Abhishek.from technixupdate.com Lets talk to him and understand what he wants to say to us and about technology blogging and his experience.

What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

Initially when i started my first personal blog at abhishekbhatnagars.blogspot.com in the initial days i have posted about myself then after some time I started posting some tricks and hacks about windows and some softwares which i found useful so very soon my personal blog become a tech blog. I started helping some of my friends with some tech solutions for their general computer problems and i also post the solutions on my blog. With the passage of time i saw visitors coming and commenting which boosted me to post more and more and my personal blog got a new name Technix Update then after some time i shifted to hosted server.

How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

I blog mostly about latest computer hacks ,tricks and troubleshooting computer specific problems and computer softwares which a normal computer user face in day to day use so i help them understanding the problems better and also keeping the articles simple considering a non-techie user.

Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

When it comes to writing about tech blogging you should be very sure what and how to write about it and also make your article more richer both content and quality on the other hand write about some thing interesting to the readers.

Before making a post how you analyze it ?

Before writing a post on a topic i search for that topic and first read if any other blogger have written about that topic and what is their perspective on that topic and then write on that in a different way.

What kind of readers you are targeting ?

General computer user and average computer user who is from non technical background.

How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

Reading about technology and computers when ever i have time by reading various tech blogs including technospot.net technical magazines or any other source of technology information and also by doing a lot of experiments with software and hardware on my desktop.

How you measure that readers have grown with your blog in terms of knowledge?

By their emails and comments when they say thanks for information i provide.

How you target new visitors to become a reader ?

I provide more quality content to according to the user needs and knowledge expertise and always append one line after each of my post which says If you had any problem in following the article leave a comment here which also helps to gain more readership.

How you see you and your blog after 5 yrs ?

After 5 years i see my self as a full time Tech Blogger and my blog would be a good stop for those searching for solutions for the computer problems ,ethical hacking, vista tips n tricks,Firefox hacks and technology etc.

He can bet no one in this world can spend more time than me sitting on a computer ,so in shorta crazy tech freak with good understanding of technology. I would request all my readers to visit his site and take a look around on his articles Visit his blog at Technix Update and share some ideas and discuss things with him for sure. Do share your views and feel free to ask anything that hits your mind. Thanks a lot for your time and hope you are enjoying the series.

Today we are going to meet someone who has a long term experience with Internet Marketing, Hosting services, Affiliates and Blogging ofcourse. I would like to welcome Ashok Arora , author of HelloAshok.com and webmaster of ewebguru.com., to the 11th episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series. Lets talk to him and understand what he wants to say to us and about technology blogging and his experience.

What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

Before coming to online world, I was teaching computer to engineering students via a coaching center, during that time I shifted to Internet and started developing site for myself. I developed my first site in 2003, although that site did not give me much in financial point of view, but gave me lots of experience. Today I hold around 20 websites ranging from blogs, directories to ecommerce site, including my web hosting site eWebGuru. Although idea to blog come to me very late, in the middle of 2006 and started my blog on Aug 2006. The reason of blogging was to write my views on Internet and Affiliate marketing.

How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

Learning is a continuous process, everyone is in different step of the ladder. I learn from those who are ahead of me and write my experiences in simple words to my readers to read it.

Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

Updated knowledge of your field is must.

Before making a post how you analyze it ?

The important thing which I check is whether I will be able to convey via my post, what I want to say.

What kind of readers you are targeting ?

I write for those who are newbies in Internet and affiliate marketing.

How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

I have to keep myself updated with the field, not only for my blog but also because of my other online venture. I have a good number of client base and I receive lots of queries ranging from very simple questions to highly complicated. I am regular to many forums like digitalpoint, webmasterworld, web hosting talk to name a few.

How you measure that readers have grown with your blog in terms of knowledge?

Knowledge spread by sharing, I share my views, my mistakes and my experiences.

How you target new visitors to become a reader ?

I have not paid much attention to this so far, although this is very important to grow your blog. Basically I blog to write my views on the field in which I work, if someone has interest in that field he will become regular.

How you see you and your blog after 5 yrs ?

My blog will be pretty same even after 5 years, I don’t think there will be much change. May be number of readers will be slightly more than what they are today. Although I can guarantee that my blog will be live even after 5 year.

He sounds like a online geek who is writing more about affiliates and Internet. I can suggest him as one of the person whom you can talk around on this. I would request all my readers to visit his site and take a look around on his articles Visit his blog at Hello Ashok and share some ideas and discuss things with him for sure.

Some people said this series rock, some people emailed me telling they liked this series and would like to find some good bloggers this way. Thanks a lot for your words. I hope my aim to bring Tech Bloggers views before you will be worth.

Welcome to the 10th episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series and today we are going to meet Vijeesh Ravindran author of Tech Xpress. I met him through Guest Blogging and his article on How to avoid keyloggers by scramble keystokes on public computers ? was awesome. He has written lot on Security which is worth to see. Lets talk to him and understand what he wants to say to us and about technology blogging

What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

Being a software programmer it was only a matter of time. Yup! It just had to happen. Although I used to read ( I still do) tech stuff from newspapers & magazines, computers happened quite late to me.Off course, a lot changed after I got a PC and when Internet access became affordable ( Whoa! Still remember those days when having an Internet connection was a privilege). I used to search for all sorts of registry hacks & brag about those to my fellow buddies while doing my graduation in IT.
Coming back to blogging, I had made an account at Blogger in 2005 but that was just to have a first look. The real trigger was last year when I saw Amit Agarwal’s interview on CNBC TV18. That one was really encouraging and I wrote my first post on Tech Xpress in October 06.

How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

“Keep it Simple & To the Point”. That is the mantra. When writing a tech post, always write it for non-geeks. I use dictionary tools ( Dictionary Tooltip for Firefox) and sites to find better and simple synonyms for the words I intend to use in the post.
And if your post is about a tip or trick, never forget to include step-by-step points on how to reproduce that. According to me, points are crucial as it tends to immediately prompt the user to take action from the matter we type.

Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

Knowing what you are going to write about and more importantly, testing what your are going to write. Testing helps a tech blogger to be doubly sure of the content. In short, a tech blogger’s computer must be used as a guinea pig. After all, one wouldn’t want to pass wrong information and put loyal readers in a mess.

Before making a post how you analyze it ?

Is it interesting? Is it appealing? Will it be USEFUL to readers? If I find a ‘yes’ to these 3 questions, I proceed to do some research on the topic. This doesn’t mean I just publish after completing the post. Sometimes, I make a point to re-read posts(if they are lengthy) at a different time with a fresh mind. This fresh outlook helps in correcting & adding new information to the content.

What kind of readers you are targeting ?

This is a no-brainer. Everyone’s invited! Tech Xpress is free for anyone who has access to the Web. More the number of visitors, the better for a blog.

How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

By using the Web off course. I update myself from tons of feeds (one of which is your’s ) and forums. I also go through the tech sections in newspapers occasionally.

How you measure that readers have grown with your blog in terms of knowledge?

This is a difficult one. Apart from feedback comments & email, I have no other way to find how much the readers have gained intellectually. Like many other fellow bloggers out there, I receive those ‘Thank you’ & ‘Awesome’ type of comments. At this point, I can take them into account. Well! I never counted how many.

How you target new visitors to become a reader ?

It’s all in the content. If visitors find your content interesting, they will subscribe.Make sure the subscription button is prominent, easy to view & above the fold. I also include subscription links in each and every post. In short, just make it easier for a visitor to subscribe.

How you see you and your blog after 5 yrs ?

If I could predict that long into the future, I should be investing heavily in the stock markets! Seriously, I would still be involved in the software industry, making software, which is my present full time job. 5 years is a really long time for the blogosphere and honestly I haven’t made any grand plans for my blog yet. But I’m not very sure. Things tend to change a lot in 5 years.

Oh and yes! My technical writing will surely have a lot more flair by then.

He likes stock exchange but he still loves blogging a lot and wants to give best to his readers, Visit his blog at Tech Xpress and share some ideas and discuss things with him for sure. Do share your views and feel free to ask anything that hits your mind. Thanks a lot for your time and hope you are enjoying the series.

9th episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series and today we are going to meet someone who has not only created a buzz with his wordpress plugins like Better comment manager but also is Java and PHP programmer. He does a lot of free lance programming and his usual job. Lets talk to him and understand what he wants to say to us and about technology blogging

What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

Well to be frank I was a good writer all through school and college (blush) and always got more than 8 on my essays everytime, the fact was that I wanted to be a chef rather than come into technology. The fascination for technology started quite early at school when they introduced computers at our school.

It was somewhere down the 6th grade around 1993 in those days we only had DOS out there and I used to beat all my pals (at the computer period ) at commands as simple as mkdir and rmdir and some fun stuff like creating nested directories et al, it was quite funny at that time. After getting attached to computers I spent most of my Thursday holidays playing games at my school computer labs.

It was 9 long years after that before which I got my first computer at home and explored into endless possibilities, then I learned programming which got me hooked, learned hardware by tearing apart my own system etc.

Technology always amazed me since I was young and it’s been 14 yrs now and I am still stuck to it, like writing, blogging came to me naturally with the power that I could change or enhance people’s views about technology with a article on my site. The idea to blog about technology never came it was already into my system before I started writing about it.

It’s been a long way but I have now embraced the word technology as being a part of my life as it’s not only my bread and butter but also my way of helping other’s who don’t know about it.

How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

I try and help readers understand things about the thing they use. For instance I can write a quick tip about creating a custom menu with Firefox, though I can write a article on how Firefox works internally.

Firefox on its own is a Software, there is no way I can explain to non geeks how Firefox exactly works and I am unsure if my audiences would want to know how Firefox works beneath the sheets.

In its own technology is a rather big word, with example of browsers, Firefox itself being a browser uses technology that it did not invent to allow users to browse webpages. The technology Firefox uses to do this is not for end level users but for geeks so I make sure to keep my blog posts such that any level of users can understand it.

Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

Knowing what you are writing about is more crucial than blogging about it, what you are writing is conveyed to the end user and most of the users tend to ask questions about it.

I always make sure I study the software or website well before hand such that whatever message I have conveyed can be easily answerable.

For e.g. If I write a article about a hack then I have to make sure I know the different circumstances that it should work in and not work in be ready with the answers.

Before making a post how you analyze it ?

Most of my posts are from my personal experiences, annoyances with software, software customizations etc, so pre post I have already gone through what many of my readers have gone through and would want to improve on.

I tend to ignore things that have been written over and over again, there have been times where software’s like Launchy have made my life easier but then I have not written about it because of so many expert opinions have already been done.

Another formula I use is that whatever I am writing about I make sure it works the same way I have tried to convey it in on multiple systems .

What kind of readers you are targeting ?

Those readers who want to know more about the software they use, news they can use. Those who can utilize any software or website with much more ease then they are accustomed to or are unaware of things that would help them in a certain way either right away or in future.

How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

I am a Software Engineer with more than 6 years of experience and 8 years of hardware experience so I always try to use the latest software that makes my life easier.

I tend to download the latest software that is useful and utilize it to see if my system performs better than others and let others know about it. For that I follow the latest software news and read technology content in almost all major newspapers and top tech sites. This allows me to know what new technology is available and try and utilize it before I can make views.

I do not write about hardware on my blog including cell phones etc because I do not have much time out of my software world, even then most of my friends have used my expertise to create their dream machines based on my hardware recommendations.

How you measure that readers have grown with your blog in terms of knowledge?

There is no real way to determine this except for feedback from users, I have got feedbacks that my tips have helped users, many users do not respond even if something has helped them. So with regards to measuring user growth with the blog I would not be able to provide you with any appropriate or accurate response.

How you target new visitors to become a reader ?

I am always targeting new visitors to become readers, I mostly target users to solve their problems with some of tips. I do have quite a few readers who are regular but with technology it changes every time and, if you don’t change with them, they change who they read. It’s all about providing them with a useful utility which they can use to solve their common problems.

Also not all users have the same problems, most of my users come from Google searching for a problem for which my site has a solution so converting those users to regular users is a bit of a problem, but yes I have improved and have a regular reader base which reads what I write.

How you see you and your blog after 5 yrs ?

To be frank I am not sure about it, I blog when I get time I do a full time job, do open source, do free lancing and blog too. One day I have to quit some of these phase by phase, but I am as passionate about software as I am about writing so I won’t quit any of these soon but there is no certainly for anything 6 months down the line so I would rather not speak about 5 years down the line.

And so that was Keith , author of some of the best used wordpress plugins, and he believes in keeping your readers updated and change then as technology does. Visit his blog at Techie-Buzz and share some ideas and discuss things with him for sure. Do share your views and feel free to ask anything that hits your mind. Thanks a lot for your time and home you are enjoying the series.

Welcome to the 8th episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series and Today We are going to meet a tech-blogger who is a big fan of gaming. Welcome Madhur on this series . He is from India and writes on technology , gaming and blogging. One of his latest post on Docking station for ipod is very interesting to see. Lets get to know Madhur and his ideas on Tech blogging

What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

Computers and technology have always fascinated me from the time I could understand these terms . Through my blog , I wanted to share my knowledge with others . That’s why I started my blog and since Computers and Technology was the thing I was good at , I decided to start a tech blog.

How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

I try to keep my articles as simple as possible so that it can appeal to both newbies as well as advanced professionals . I present tips , guides , reviews , which can sometimes be useful for many computer users in performing there task.

Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

According to me , Content and Presentation are crucial for a tech blog . Your content should be valid and the way you present it should also appeal to the readers

Before making a post how you analyze it ?

Before writing a post , I first decide whether the content will appeal to the readers or not . Then I search the net for similar or related articles to get a good idea of the thing . Then I decide on the presentation style .

What kind of readers you are targeting ?

I target all sort of readers (age no bar) which can include casual computer users , advanced users , casual and professional gamers . I write about Technology , Games and blogging so it can attract a variety of audience .

How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

I browse around the web , read hundred of feeds , some technology books which keeps me updated on the latest technology stuff.

How you target new visitors to become a reader ?

The presentation along with the style and importance of content can make a new visitor become a regular reader .

How you see you and your blog after 5 yrs ?

5 years is a very big time . But if my blog is there till that time , it will still contain all these geeky stuff . Maybe I would have started a few more blogs which will be dealing with programming , football etc .

That was fast!!! And so that was Madhur and he believes in content and presentation and his ideas. You can visit his blog at Madhur Kapoor’s Blog and share some ideas and discuss things with him for sure.

Welcome to the 6th Episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series and Today We are going to talk to Rishi, a Young and talented profile. His Profile page says “Rishi started his blogging career and will end it with WordPress.” That’s interesting and truly tells his passion for blogging.Lets talk to Rishi and hear what message he brings to us.

Ashish: What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

Rishi Says: I always had an interest in computers and technology and my encounter with internet in mid of 2006 made my knowledge in PC tweaking, web stuff etc.get a boost. I first started a blog on rishiraj.wordpress.com and started writing some registry play and about new software I installed on my PC and give it a short review. Then I saw people visiting my blog and then comments also started coming in and this gave me an idea to do tech blogging and let the young tech enthusiast inside my come out.

Ashish: How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

Rishi Says:I basically blog on day-to-day life tech stuff which every common internet surfer can understand. I also try my best to make all my articles simple and neat so that any non-techie don’t find it hard.

Ashish: Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

Rishi Says: There are above 112,107 tech blogs on the internet as listed my Technorati. If anyone is tech blogging, he should be very crucial on the content he is writing should be different from all, he should not write what everyone else is writing. Moreover he should make out a blogging strategy before starting a tech blog if he wants to get best out it.

Ashish: Before making a post how you analyze it ?

Rishi Says: Before writing any article/post, I do a search over Technorati on the stuff I am going to blog on and if anyone else have written about it or if anyone has written, what does he think on the topic and what does his readers think ( through reader comments ). I do a full analyze over the topic and then write it.

Ashish: What kind of readers you are targeting ?

Rishi Says: Readers I am tracking are most bloggers and then non-techie people. I get most pageviews on my blogging related posts and then all tips & tricks posts.

Ashish: How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

Rishi Says: I track some 150+ blogs everyday through my feed reader and I don’t subscribe to all blog posts, I only subscribe to the category of the blog in which I am interested. I also have many Google Alerts on topics I want to track i.e. Technology updates.

Ashish: How you measure that readers have grown with your blog in terms of knowledge?

Rishi Says:Yes, I have observed that my readers are gaining knowledge through my blog as I am always on a regular IM contact with all my readers and have tracked that many of my non-techie readers got many ideas and knowledge from my blog which they usually tell me through instant messages.

Ashish: How you target new visitors to become a reader ?

Rishi Says: I mainly target to make a new visitor to a reader by providing him for what he was looking, fulfilling his requirements. And when he his search is fulfilled, I give them subscription options on my blog and a link to my feeds at end of every post.

Ashish: How you see your blog after 5 yrs ?

Rishi Says: Hmm, I am not good in imagining but I think after 5 years I will become good blogger and my blog will be a great stop for anyone searching for technology news, updates, tricks, tips, hacks, blogging tips etc. Lets see if it comes true or not …

Welcome to the 5th Episode of TechBlogger’s Face-Off series and Today We are going to talk to Brajeshwar, His profile says he is an ace digerati and an ardent believer of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). He masters in Adobe and Flash Media his articles sure makes a difference. Lets talk to Brajeshwar and hear what message he brings to us.

Ashish: What did spark the idea of Tech blogging to you ?

Brajeshwar Says: While learning Adobe (erstwhile Macromedia) Flash 5, one mentor
answered to one of my weird question, “It is not yet possible or vailable anywhere. So, it should come from brajeshwar.com!”. So, I thought I will just babble out on my own site – booked the domain in 2001, started off as a flash site complete with a “flash intro”. I
converted it to a blog during May, 2002.

Ashish: How your blog helps readers to understand technology ?

Brajeshwar Says: It was not really something “to make people understand”; it was more of a fun way to share what I know and learn more from people’s reaction. Very fortunately and with the love of my readers, my blog turn out to be something useful to technology people specially with Adobe Technologies particularly the Flash Platform.

Ashish: Which point you think is very crucial in Tech Blogging ?

Brajeshwar Says: I’m not that philosophical to give you any advise. Well, just try to be honest, frank, a bit personal (not too much). Though a good english is not that necessary, I’ve learn that it helps a lot. You’ll be surprised that I receive readers’ mail with corrected english and facts from my articles. I just promptly edit my articles to reflect the appropriate ones. Thanks to my readers again.

You can’t just publish anything you see on the internet, you have to make sure it’s true. If you’re writing about a rumor, you have to make it clear that it’s not confirmed. If you’re writing about products or “how-tos”, you have to make sure that it works.

A sense of humor is critical to a Tech blog. Don’t take yourself too seriously. If you made a mistake, admit it. If your readers correct you, thank them and update your post.

Ashish: Before making a post how you analyze it?

Brajeshwar Says: All the time and everyone must. I don’t strictly follow Jakob Nielsen’s Write Articles, Not Blog Postings but I love to stay somewhere in between “writing articles” and writing “blog posts”. So, I do analyze before, and after writing an article for my blogs.

Ashish: What kind of readers you are targeting ?

Brajeshwar Says: I started off targeting just Flash Platform users, then it expanded ll Macromedia (now part of Adobe) Softwares, it now encompasses their topics like India’s IT/ITES, Open Source, Startups and Entrepreneurs and a bit of Technical Business and Management needs.

Ashish: How you upgrade yourself with technology ?

Brajeshwar Says :Of course, the Internet – blogs (lots of them), RSS Feeds, digg.

Ashish: How you measure that readers have grown with your blog in terms of knowledge?

Brajeshwar Says: The lots of “thank you” comments and emails, usage of my tips,
tactics, source files and the constant “ask the expert” kinda questions to me is the scale that makes me feel the readers are benefiting from my blog.

Ashish: How you see you and your blog after 5 yrs ?

Brajeshwar Says:I don’t know. I’m not really planning strategically for my blog. It just happened, will just go on and will tune according to the wind blowing across the internet. It might even remain like today but with increased readership (this year, I saw a three fold increase in readership than last year) or it might grew to be established site like GigaOm, Techcrunch. I mean, neither do I care that much nor do I neglect it.

Experience Speaks and Tech with humor gets one more point. This was Brajeshwar and his views about technology and tech blogging. You can visit his blog at Brajeshwar Flash Platform Analyst and share some ideas with him. Do share your views and feel free to ask anything that hits your mind. Thanks a lot for your time.
