Blogging Toolkit
By Ashish MohtaBlogging is not just about writing, though the content is the most important but bloggers have to know more than just writing. They have to be a mix of technical tools and blogging ideas, specific to their niche. Its been a good time of blogging on technospot.net and Now i know blogging much better than I used to. With time I have sorted out some tools which I use most of the time as a resource for creating content or imaging. The most important part is you can never rely on one tool. You have to upgrade with time and choose an alternate one when it comes a better one. Madhur Tagged me on his post of Madhur’s Blogging ToolKit.
What is Blogging Toolkit ?
My Blogging ToolKit
- Blogging Platform: Wordpress , The main reason is the flexibility and varied amount of plugins that makes life of wordpress user easy.
- Blogging Editor: There are lot of client writes available like Windows Live Writer, but I still use the default editor that comes up with wordpress. The main reason is it gives me a better preview and other additional features I add along with post directly from the editor.
- Stastic Software: These tools are basically used for measuring the performance of blog on the level of internet like where people are coming from , what keywords are used. I had been using Google Analytics and 103bees.
- Blog Promotion: These are small applications to make your blog to rank better in terms of SEO and getting noted in other internet paradigms. I am using Head Meta Descriptor Plugin, SEO Tag Plugin, Autometa Plugin and others. I would recommend to look at the plugins listed at JohnTP’s Blog under Wordpress Plugins.
- FeedReader: Feed readers are applications which allows you to read the posts made on blogs without going to the site itself. There are lot of them available but I had been using Google Reader since it allows me to stay in touch with blogs from internet anytime.
- Browsers: You must be thinking how browsers can help me in blogging but it actually does a lot. Whenever I switch theme or make any changes in my design, I have to test on different browsers like IE , FF and Opera to check if its compatible to all users. I use all of them.
- Imaging Tools: This is one of the most important tool. I prefer to have one image in every post as it makes the post look attractive and conveys the message to readers even before reading it. I use MS Paint and Adobe Photoshop both.
Blogging is not just mere posting, Its combination of interaction, reading, designing and writing. If you are a blogger you must be having some set of tools. Can you share ? Sharing will helps is knowing many different things. I would be looking forward for the comments.
