Call Skype contacts from BlackBerry Mobile using Wi-Fi : Shape gets IM + Skype Beta

Letting people use VOIP applications from mobile using internet is an issue which even Google Voice is fighting on.  After all there is lot of money waiting to be cashed down there. Till you get that solved, Shape Services have developed a full blown Skype client (still in beta) which lets you make call using WiFi.

I tried it out and the application is very buggy.  You might not be able to get your voice to your contact all the time and none of the time. I was able to do it once but that lasted for just on second. Also you will need to press call button when you take and release when you want to hear your partner.

You can select call preference to use it completely over VOIP / VOIP prefered or callback only. It can also make switch when you get in and out of wi-fi network.

According to Ronen @ Berry Review, the beta is available till 8th December and if you take part in the beta testing you might get one copy free for yourself.
