Find data sharing policy breaches in Companies with LAN Search
In Windows there is no provision of searching files over Network, at the max you can do is search computer name but how about finding shared files over network? This was never implemented as it would be a security concern and and result in data breaches.
On the other hand people share files with others and they forget. In fact there had been many cases when asked why a file was available on share and they didn’t knew about it.
This sometimes can go against Company File Sharing Policy. Its individuals responsibility to make sure we have our file secured but it happens and will keep on happening.
This problem can be partly solved by using LAN Search pro, a free ware which searches shared files or file types on network and it’s as easy as we make a search in windows including the indexed search.
Moreover it can also search hidden network resources, restricted access resources, IP subnets, LAN FTP servers
This will be especially useful for IT and System administrators to find files which are restricted by company policies but are still shared on network. This is like Swiss knife for them.
- Look for documents, database and spreadsheet files on the corporate intranet?
- Restrict music, video or software being shared without permissions.
People then can be informed about this so they are aware of what kinds of files are shared and if they had done it by mistake there is a chance to fix it.
