Find trending diseases in your city
Most of the time it takes time to get notified if there is any kind of disease like flu or cold outbreak in the city ad you already get infected before Newspapers, TV or relatives can tell you “Yeah its happening to 10 more people in my office”. In short time to take precaution is too short or zero.
SickCity is a real time watch on these kind of diseases which uses the power of social media and as of now its filtering Twitter for finding out how many times people are mentioning of getting sick in any of the ways. Like the one below is of Sydney:
The idea is awesome and specially to get facts from twitter will be pretty useful because @Twitter people do even talk about having tea or doing work, so it pretty obvious that they would talk if they get sick.
Once you click on the particular disease, you would be able to see how many people had complaint about having it in their twitter status. This makes the whole process much more transparent.
You can read the status and see what actually they meant and get more info about it. The stats are clear and elaborate.
- You can see how many people had talked about it in last 30 days.
- If interested you can get in touch with those people on Twitter to get more info on how they got the disease.
- Find each day detail. This can even help you to map it with different conditions line weather to related if it was just for the day.
I am not sure of what algorithm they are using but I can suggest Sickcity team to create some kind of handle like @sick or may be hash tag of #sick and people can use this tag to report their disease and the can use it into their algorithm. If they do it they would definitely get more accurate result.
They are also coming up Facebook tracking which will make them twice strong. I would prefer using SickCity as it can give me a trending diseases information and I can be much prepared before I catch them. So what are you waiting for ? Give SickCity a try.
