Firefox 3 will be the standard browser included with Windows 7 [ Rumor ]

Update : This was all done for fun.

Believe it or not that’s going to happen. According to this source ( Microsoft Abandons Internet Explorer 8 Development for Firefox 3)  Steve Ballmer announced  that Microsoft would be halting development on Internet Explorer 8 and focusing the company’s efforts on Firefox 3.

This is pretty surprising but hi five for FF users and on top of that he had said  ” Firefox 3.0 will be the standard browser included with Windows 7 installations along and will replace Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista SP2″.

This came definitely as a surprise to Mozilla but they must have welcomed it. Firefox being the most popular browser has an edge now on all the browsers.

  • However I am just wondering how some of the applications which typically works with IE7 and Silverlight would workout.
  • If Windows User gets Firefox 3 installed as default it will definitely affect the referral program of Google where it asks people to use FF . Remember this programs are specifically targeted for IE users by the site owners to increase their ad units performance.
  • Is Microsoft finally moving towards Interoperability ? In one of the post on IE blog they said “Microsoft recently published a set of Interoperability Principles. Thinking about IE8’s behavior with these principles in mind, interpreting web content in the most standards compliant way possible is a better thing to do.”

We will have to wait to see how Microsoft changes the its business strategy for competing in the Internet world. Already Yahoo Mania has changed a lot of things and we will be seeing more of it soon.

Update: We are working to get more news so this aritcle can get more support. Till then things seems to be dicy. Thanks for your patitence.

So fake, this will never be true, even if I would love this… I always have to install Firefox and restrict access to IE when I install windows on every PC.
