Get Important emails minus the messy Inbox

Managing an email account could be real pain at times. Considering the scenario where several feeds, alerts, etc. are the part of your email, we often end up wasting a huge portion of our time checking the emails, and this ultimately reduces our productivity. I have once been a victim of this.

I recently came across AwayFind, an awesome service for people who think that their productivity is being affected negatively due to frequent email checking. Second category of people who will like this service is people who are often away from their office (or say from their system and internet), due to any reasons.

However, it will require your email address and the login password as well, and if you are very finicky about these details, stop reading this post, though I have been using AwayFind for quite a while now, and I don’t think providing your email and password to AwayFind is a problem.

What is AwayFind –

AwayFind is an online service, which is as good as having an email assistant for you. You can set filers, by providing the email addresses which you consider to be important for you, there are some other options like you can tell AwayFind to notify you about an email only if the message has certain number of recipients (like if an important contact forwards an email to suppose 10 people then chances are that in spite being from an important contact you have received a message which is not important for you).  This email assistant can –

  • Inform you about the new email you received from some important contact, via a phone call, text message, a DM on Twitter etc. (choose any number of notification methods out of the available ones.) while you are away from your inbox. If the incoming message is not very long it also reads the full message and the SMS delivered to you also has the full message
  • Auto responds the incoming messages (if you opt for it).
  • you can choose the time for the notification, like if you don’t want to get notified after 10 PM, or maybe you don’t want to receive any updates on weekends, you can tell AwayFind not to deliver the notification in above said time span.

AwayFind is in beta as of now, so account creation at AwayFind is strictly invitation based, you can apply for an invitation at the homepage.

Once you get an invitation, you can sign up and create an account, simply key in your email and the password, later you need to select the contact methods, as shown below.

Away Find enter email and password along with the notification methods

You need to verify your account for contact methods, like your phone number (a code is sent to the given phone number, which in to be entered in the web interface here for verification) or username (code is sent on you Twitter or Yahoo Messenger id later enter it here to verify).

Later you can click on the filters tab, to set the filters. Also on the same page you can set the time slab when to deliver the notification.

If you have opted for an auto responder, you can customize the message under the Signatures & Responders tab.

There are couples of other options, like you can assign delegates (apart from notifying you about the email, these delegates can also be notified for the same).

I liked AwayFind, this is a great service to help you improve you productivity by saving time from checking emails frequently.  Go ahead and apply for a Beta invite of AwayFind and enjoy this awesome service.

I have 3 invitations left with me, if you want to grab one, tell us in comments that how can AwayFind be useful for you, and I will send the invitations to first 3 comments.

Wow, Manav, this is a really clear explanation of how to setup AwayFind and a great summary. As the founder of AwayFind, I just want to thank for taking the time…and also for validating that everything is working well with our SMS in India–something I don’t get to test all that often!

If I can help at all or answer questions for you or your readers, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks for posting this!
