Gmail adds Contact Picker ..But do we need it ?

Finally I was pretty happy but odd to see the To label ( In Gmail Compose ) to appear as hyperlink instead of plan old black label and this adds Contact Picker to Gmail which is similar to what people enjoy Outlook or Thunderbird like clients.

The contact picker works on Type in Search method so you can see the real time filtering of contacts as you type in. Moreover you can keep on adding and then find another contact to be added  one after the other. This makes sure that you need not to open the contact picker every time.

Gmail contact picker

In order to delete any of the contact list from the To section, just hover your mouse over and select it. The selected one would appear as crossed and hence will not be included in the to list.

But the actual question is do we actually require it ?  Gmail already gives us an incredible auto fill and find feature to add contacts, then why do we need it ?  On discussion with many people some of them said since Gmail wants to compete with any online or Offline Email competitors it becomes necessary to privde features which people had been using from a long time.

So what do you think about it ? Are you going to actually use it or Gmail Auto Search and fill feature is more then anough for you.

    Hi,

I think this really helps people who are not in regular in sending mails. and who are not enough aware of arranging their contact manager good. An example on the same; my colleague, he is 40+, who always forgot his contacts, he was been asking for this feature. Yesterday when I mentioned this, he was happy.

    Thanks,
