Gmail introduces Voice and Video chat

Gmail Video and VoiceGmail has left several other chat clients far behind with its awesome email management and chat inside the browser feature. Yesterday, Gmail introduced the much awaited ‘Voice and Video chat ‘ feature.

All you need to experience this new feature is install a plugin, you can download the installer and it then installs it online using the internet connection. Once done with installation you just need to restart the browser.

More about ‘Voice and Video chat‘ can be read on the Official Gmail blog, Watch the video.

My experience with Gmail’s Voice and Video chat

  • Voice quality is awesome, calling facility was there earlier as well but now that too seems to be improved.
  • Video too is pretty high end in sense, that even on a slow internet connection I didn’t feel the video being paused during the transmission.
  • Liked the portability, it was my first experience of voice and video in the browser itself, and I liked it a lot.

So try this new feature, and share your experiences with us. Download the Plugin for Gmail Voice and Video Chat

I’ve heard about Courts using video conferencing technologies especially in the rural areas and villages. Even though it’s an expensive approach but it’s a great way for developing these areas.
