Google Says: Max 2 Results per Search per Page for any site

One of the discussion going around at Search engine roundtable is what you see on the topic. They have the information of the latest Google strategies for Search Engine results which says…..there will only 2 results per page for a given site even if you have more it at least will not show up in the first page.

News flash from Las Vegas PubCon. Matt Cutts informed us that Google will very soon begin treating subdomains and subdirectories the same in this fashion: there will be only 2 total URLs from a domain in any set of search results, so no more getting 3, 4 or however many spots via subdomains. We didn’t get any more information than just that basic heads-up.

Update: For sites at blogger.com , they might be exempted as Google knows that they are individual sites. But what about other sites which actually allow hosting like blogger. Lets take an example of Wordpress. Even they allow free hosting and create subdomains. Any ideas?

After reading the comments and the article I was thinking how it will be impacting the web sites in long term. Lot of blogs and sites have sub-domains for different topics. Say for an example a Tech site can have sub domains as mobile.sitename.com and software.sitename.com.

Now if you have software articles which is useful for mobiles also, you must have posted it on both the places. But now since Google is going to treat sub domains as folders ( Yes that’s the catch) and were dominating in top 10 at 4 places , it might not be the case any more. You will be getting only 2 at max and whichever makes more sense ( either you home page or sub domain )

I am waiting to hear more discussion on this from Other SEO blogs. I am not sure how its going to affect traffic but It might. Please head up to the discussion for more
