Google to provide online security with GreenBorder

As the increase in internet threats tend to rise right from Zero Day Attack to Pharming there is a growing concern among internet users to get warned as they surf. This is where Google gives an answer.

Google has acquired GreenBorder Technologies to provide a better internet security around the globe. Few days back google stared a security blog where its educating people about the internet threat on malware

GreenBorder Technologies , can help to block Web-based exploits that target the loop holes on the most commonly used browsers — Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Mozilla’s and Firefox. This can be an addon advantage in terms of both the sides. Google will be able to give a cleaner search result and users can be warned against the possible threats most important being are Malware.

Malware is defined as a software which is capable of stealing sensitive information from your computer. Now if you are visiting a site which is meant to spread and your browsers have vulnerable plugins, your system being infected with a whole variety of malware without any interaction on your part.

This is a small example which tells the majority of malware activity possibly happens in China, the U.S., Germany and Russia (see below):

Malware count on Google Maps

Google is going to warn you against those malware infected sites. Here is a small example:

Malware Results in Google Search

Its still a long way to go, but this acquisition will be interesting in terms of users being warned as they surf instead of finding a solution after getting infected. Now My question is Is it going to be better than Norton Securities and Mcafee ? Ah I forgot to mention, this security feature will be available for Google Desktop users too. Now thats what I meant to say when i asked “Will it be better than Mcafee?” What do you think?
