How to add a Drop Cap in Word 2007

Drop Cap means creating a large capital letter at the beginning of a paragraph. This is very often used in many of the e-books in start of a new chapter. What is the use of it ? Well as far as I can understand its one of the formatting technique which is used to draw attention when reading e-books or even a normal book. I have seen them in both the cases. Here is an example of it

How to add a drop cap in Microsoft Office 2007 -:

  • Go to Insert Tab of Menu in word 2007
  • Drop Cap option is listed under Text Option on the right side.
  • Click on it and you will able to see 3 options : None, Dropped and Margin.
  • You can preview how each of them will look by just hovering the mouse over the options. A dynamic preview is available in Microsoft Office 2007.

Dropped is what you are seeing above. Margin option will pull rest of the paragraph on side and T will be standing out alone. You can also edit the Font, Lines to drop, and Distance from the rest of text for drop cap option depending on your need.

This can be really helpful in case of documentation. Always remember way of presenting your document is very important no matter how much you are efficient in writing codes or designing algorithms, If you cant present well chances are that your clients will look outside the window.
