How to prevent programs suggesting to change default search providers

IE 8 comes with nifty hack which allows you to avoid programs which asks you to change the search engine providers i.e. Search box right on top right of your browser.

We do install search engine providers when we find something new but its marketing strategy to change them by asking users which don’t even know what it is.

Lets say you use Live Search all the time for searching and happy with it. All of sudden sometimes after installing a program you are asked to change it to any custom search engines and you just say yes.

This impacts when you make the search next time and something different opens up on different search engine which you never wanted.

In Internet explorer 8 this can be avoided by selecting the check box under Manage Search provider > Search providers which says prevent programs suggesting to change default search providers

Manage Search Providers
