I still don’t think that Itunes was that compatible on my XP system. I always had issues recognizing the ipod in a timely fashion and sometimes not at all. Is this any better in Vista are we starting all over again?

There are still some serious known problems with iTunes on XP. There are quite a few memory leaks introduced with the new network code that iTunes uses, and a few that deal with iPod read/write code. Some people crash when the store tries to send them updates on podcasts. Others crash when syncing their iPod with too many new files. I personally cannot do anything at all when any part of iTunes accesses the store, and frequently crash when importing music (as the store looks for album info automatically for Apple’s own polls now).

These crashes don’t just exit iTunes. They crash XP itself. You only see BSODs and RSODs and then you go, “What the hell?” This COULD be fixed, as similar problems were addressed on the Mac version update. But Apple hates XP users or something.

Come on Apple. Help your customers out, will you.

When I try to install itunes on my vista ultimate it says my VB script is disabled or not installed. What should I do?

  • Ashish Mohta, May 30, 2007:

    Hi John,

I think there could be 2 problems. First your system doesnt allow VB Script to execute ot you dont have it. Here is one link you can follow iTunes and QuickTime for Windows XP cannot be installed without Visual Basic Script (VBScript)

    I hope that helps

iTunes STILL doesn’t work with Vista 64 bit editions.

I haven’t been able to synch my iPod with my desktop PC for almost half a year now, come on Apple!

I plan on buying an Apple TV console, but not until they finally get their iTunes software working properly.

I’ve installed the latest itunes for Vista and it has deleted my CD/DVD Writer/Burner. It seems to overwrite my Drivers. Can someone help me with this problem. I’m using a hp dv6500 pavillion notebook running Vista. I called HP and they just had me remove ITunes. Now I can’t use my ipod because all my music is in Itunes.

I continue to lose my E drive when I restart my computer after installing Itunes. I have upgraded to 7.3 but that doesn’t help. I can use Itunes and the drive until I restart my computer … at which time the E drive disappears.

  • Doris, August 17, 2007:

Don’t believe it when itunes tells you the new patch will fix the Vista problems. I downloaded it again as it said it fixed the Vista problems concerning the removal of the cd/dvd rom. It will overwrite the drivers and as soon as you load itunes and restart your cd rom will disappear and won’t be recongized. Their patch did nothing to correct the problem. Come on Apple get with the program. I’m sick of having to wait on downloading my music on my ipod because I can’t use my computer. Your loss Apple. I’m thinking of using music match at least I know that will work with Vista.

@Doris: I would agree with you. Seems like this problem is not solved yet
