Manage more Open Windows by sending them to System tray
Taskbar is one place where all the open windows dock in. But as the number of Open windows increases taskbar gets crowded and confusing. Windows does provide grouping of similar windows but then it hides and adds an extra step for you to go and look what is open. On the other hand System tray is one area ( where you find the clock ) where icons get automatically hidden and they dont much space, its limited by default.
Tray it is one free software which targets this problem and gives an optimum solution. As the name says It trays everything i.e. any open windows can be sent to system tray instead of sending it to taskbar. This reduces crowd, confusion both and allows you to have as many open windows as possible.
Using Tray it.
It wil take a little time to understand how tray it works. Its simple but needs some focus before you start using it. As said before that tray it sends any open window to System tray, it also creates an icon of the window. This makes sure you know what is there. To add to system tray there are two ways of doing it.
Use the Tray It window :
Tray it window maintains the list of all open windows as well as windows which are sent to tray icon. Select any of the windows which is on taskbar and right click. Select send to tray option and it minimizesto system tray with its own icon. To open it just double click it. Her is an animation explaining that
Use the Tray It Finder:
Tray it comes with a unique Window Finder which lets you select any window and it automatically goes to tray. It looks like a Spy Glass. Just left click mouse and then drag it to open window.
Advanced Profile Management with Tray it
Tray it doesn’t end here. It comes with ability to manage different profile i.e. Settings applicable to selected application. After you have selected an application for system tray. Lets say you want all your Gmail Applications to be minimized to tray automatically anytime you turn on your computer and launch the application.
TO do this just right click any of the trayed application and choose edit profile. This application is powerful enough to
- find which executable it belongs to. If its camtasia it can find the program which runs camtasia.
- It allows you to select applications which match case i.e. depending on the words it has in title.
- Advanced users can also use to select class id for matching it.
Save it as one of your profile and even if you launch a new application which matches the string of the configured profile, it will be sent to tray. However if you are not comfortable you can just skip it and use as said in the first section.
Overall an extremely useful application for people who need to have lot of windows open. With profile creation it even solves the problem of maintaining each and every application. So if you are one this kind of user Give Tray it a try ( Via Geeky Tips )
