Mapmyindia - A new service to find any street in India
Trying out to find a place in India and you don’t have any place to look!!! Well the question is answered. Delhi Based CE info systems has launched detailed road maps available on mobiles which promises to guide you through every corner of Indian streets.
What is it ?
MapMyIndia is not Google earth if you are thinking on same line.It had been really awaited a online map for Indian streets which are not easy to map.Maymapindia.com have given a true approach to this. While Google earth provides pictures , they provide detailed maps of roads in various cities in India.
On which cell phones it works ?
Currently They have provided maps on mobiles only and so called high end phones equipped with GPRS for online data transfer.
Why they chose mobiles ?
In India the no of mobile has increased 10 folds and every where you go , mobile goes with you.If you want to know something at most of the time you look is for a mobile. Then why not mobile tell you which is the nearest atm center!!! Good and smart idea i would say.
Plans for Future:
They are joining hands with providers and operators. It wont be free as far as i think. While digging more about it they said somewhere “NRI who requires information about road etc can avails our services by paying a small sum of 100 rs per month.
System Requirement :
Now thats tricky.I might not go for that kind of.It should be provided for a minimal price like 10 or something. These days even a fruit seller has a mobile so if he has to find something why he would look in the cell phone? He can just ask a autorikshaw to tell about that!!!
Search Results:
I tried looking for “Shyambazar” in West Bengal it gave a positive result:
