Microformats : Creating bootstrap exchanging data on the web
About page is one of the most looked page when any new visitor comes to site for the first time. This page had been longed used for providing information about and how of the site. As Internet grew and more people get involved in web semantics the consumption of information has increased and so is the patience of end users to find about the website.
End users these days want to capture the important details of any website quickly. Take an example of an even getting organized where you want people to register and then avail the information.Traditional way is to note it down, copy paste, pdf download which not only takes one step extra but there is no core place where a user can just say Save info and move on to next .
Micro formats is just trying to answer this. In lame English it is set of important information which you would like to give to users like Event place, time, contact, calendar details, pricing etc. and can be saved in a click with applications which can read it and then sync with your favorite applications like Outlook, Yahoo or even Google calender.
Its the Metadata of any webpage , the digital signature or even the Virtual Visiting card which is going to bootstrap exchanging data on the web
Microformats are based on a standard set of HTML class attributes which can be styled with CSS like the above you see above.
