Microsoft offers $45bn for Yahoo

In the recent announcements, Technology giant Microsoft is offering to buy search engine company Yahoo for $44.6bn in cash and shares.

This is pretty big news as Google being the all time Top search engine everybody is trying to beat it down. Right from local search engines to innovative search engines which keeps coming.

However the idea still holds that even if MS buys off Yahoo will it be able to come closer to the BIG G.

Microsoft’s Kevin Johnson said Today the market (for online search and advertising) is increasingly dominated by one player,”

This will the biggest deal after MS bought AOL in 2001 for $182 bn.

It will be interesting to see if the merger occurs, how the OPEN SOURCE Based ( Yahoo ) will work Not so Open Source ( Microsoft) will be working together. Yahoo Co-finder Jerry Yang is said to be avoiding Micrsoft Products…hmm

That is one fact no body can deny with increasing dominancy of Google. However the point is who will hold the shotgun ? Can MS do something different if they buy Yahoo or its just another try.
