New OCR: Not so great OCR tool
We have posted about couple of OCR tools, which can easily extract the text from any image file. OCR Terminal and Free OCR both are quite impressive tools, OCR Terminal offers a desktop client too for the OCR conversions and outputs several file formats.
Here we are talking about New OCR, another OCR conversion online tool, this too can convert Images and multiple paged PDF files to get the .doc or .txt file.
Here is a snapshot of the New OCR interface.

Simple browse to give the path of the image or PDF file, change the settings if required, it supports multiple languages, so you can even choose the language, and later click on the ‘Send File’.
Later you get the options to download the .txt and .doc file.
However the performance of this tool isn’t so good.
Here is the image which I uploaded on New OCR and later on the OCR Terminal –

Results, as downloaded from both of them, can be seen below (snapshots of text file)

New OCR needs loads of rework in order to output better results; moreover the available output file format list is limited to text and word files, which too is a setback. Yes, being totally free and no sign-up definitely is an added attraction to New OCR.
