If you are bored reading news in standard bunch of links with small description you should checkout News map. This service is built on Google News but gives it an excellent look by creating collage of all the news titles sorted by Country, Date and updating factor of every 10 minutes, more then 10 minutes or an hr old news.

Click on any of the title and you will be redirected to the original news. You have ability to filter news depending on the country and factors which I just told above.

What part was not clear to me was how the news section size was decided. Some have big squares and some are small. If I am not wrong it should be according to the populrity of  the news and this is what they say
