Orkut albums gets specific to friends and Non Orkuters can see when invited
Orkut has rolled out two new features. I saw them when I was editing my albums. One deals with restricting albums to only specific friends and other allows you to share albums with non orkut friends without them registering at orkut.
Restrict Orkut Albums with Specific friends
Orkut Albums earlier had only two types of sharing, first was, one which allowed ‘everyone’ to view your photos, and second was, one which allowed all the friends in your Orkut friend list, and now the new restriction is introduced to this set, which allows you to choose the friends who can view your albums.
These rules can be set individually for each album i.e. you can specify your family photographs album to be viewed by close friends and relatives, while your business contacts could be kept deprived of this.
Several other scenarios can be considered, which make this new feature pretty useful. These rules can be changed anytime, while creating your album, or later at any point of time.
Shown above is a snapshot of restriction imposing while creating a new album, while the snapshot below shows a change in restrictions on a already existing album. Check out the bottom right of the image.
Share Albums with Non orkut friends
One more very eye catching feature is the one according to which, you can share the albums also with people who are not in your Orkut friend list, they will get a URL in mail, through which they can access your Orkut Albums.
You can see the image above has email id which are non Gmail accounts. A pop up is show as soon as you type in showing you list of friends and email id from your address book in Gmail.
This is really a great new feature; such restrictions were always looked for, and a facility to share albums with people who are not there on Orkut is awesome, saves time too, Thanks to Orkut Team!!!!
