Search Flickr by Creative Commons licensed content

Using images found on Flickr can be a tricky business if you are not sure to which  type of Creative Commons license it belongs to.  Keeping this in mind  Flickr gives you an options to find images by

  • Only search within Creative Commons-licensed content
  • Find content to use commercially
  • Find content to modify, adapt, or build upon

But if you are want to get into more details of CC License you need to try LiteFlick which lets you do an advanced search by

  • Attribution License
  • Attribution-NoDerivs License
  • Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs License
  • Attribution-NonCommercial License
  • Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike License
  • Attribution-ShareAlike License
  • No known copyright restrictions

Search flickr by CC

LiteFlick is basically an advanced flickr search tool but the most catchy part of this tool is how it finds images on flickr according to various License details. This will be useful for companies or even bloggers if they want to be specific about CC.

Talking more about this, the search experience is nice. It lets you search based on dates, text and tags which is shown you as thumbnails. Clicking on each of the image shows you a bigger picture. It is flash based.  You can get to see all the tags of this picture but it doesn’t show what Creative Common license it belongs to.

With so many options in Advanced search I was expecting the license details also to be there.  So if you are looking for images in Flickr with CC details, Go for LiteFlick
