Solar Power in Cell Phone : Not a good Idea
By Ashish MohtaAs Apple Employees fill in the patent for integrating solar cells into portable devices a new era is soon going to begin. It was pretty un-expected but surely a good move as now it will make other companies to follow the trend and create a more ecological world. However I see some problems here:
- I was wondering how much part of the cell phone is usually exposed. Probably could be 30 to 40%. Imagine your self holding the device and you will see your self covering most of the cell phone all the time.
- If you expect them to run on solar power we will need to keep the cell phones in sun and if its not there , lets say in winter or in rainy season we are back to where we are now.
An alternative solution: The Bio-Heat
I was thinking on the same line and there could be an additional way to generate electricity and that could be our own Body heat. Not sure if the technology exists but if it does it would create an non stop flow of energy if the cell can be driven by our body heat. As most of the time it is hand held this can be effective.
What do you think about it ? Any ideas just shoot out in comments.

=>Battery life issues .
=>Graphics/Visual screen burnout.
=>Material (Plastic would melt,Metal or Steel would heat up, Wood cant be used)
=>Cant keep it in sun 24/7 there comes a time when Night take’s charge of the sky.
In short Bad Idea .
Using our own body heat is also a good idea and something definitely worth exploring. Though some would sound the alarm bells since it would remind them of the movie “The Matrix.” lol
