Sumatra- A quick, fast and portable PDF reader

If you are a kind of person who is on move most of time and want to keep a handy pdf reader ( and don’t want to pay for it ) with you all the time, Sumatra PDF Portable,  is a perfect choice for you.

It’s a perfect PDF viewer for minimal needs,  and you can carry it along with you in a sub drive as its slightly more than 1mb. The only aspects its lack is it does not give you a  wide range of functionality, but as far as just reading part is concerned, I just have a word “Ultimate” for this software.

Features of Sumatra PDF reader

  1. Sumatra pdf reader  has a minimalistic design, thus keeping you focused at just reading.
  2. Simplicity has a higher priority than a lot of features. Read it close it and move ahead.
  3. It’s small and starts up very fast.
  4. It’s designed for portable use: it’s just one file with no external dependencies so you can easily run it from external USB drive.
  5. Sumatra PDF reader is distributed under GPLv2 license.
  6. System Requirements: Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP/Vista, Wine under *nix (no toolbar)

My Experience with Sumatra

1.    Really very fast.
2.    Simple enough.
3.    Probably the best if you just want to read the PDF files.
4.    Poratbility is really an interesting feature.
5.    CoolPDF Reader is also a portable reader, and the size of file is less than 1mb, making it more attractive than Sumatra, but I found navigating between pages, and opening the file takes longer in CoolPDF Reader.

At the end I would say this is good from point of view of portability and just reading the pdf quickly. Remember its not a complete pdf solution but just a reader.
