Third party tool for desktop search on Vista ?

Microsoft Desktop Search is an effective tool to find accurately files and folders on Vista based operating system. However this idea was not liked by many PC makers specially Google. Google’s complaint which was initially lodged last December after Microsoft released its first version of Vista to business customers. Google claimed that by embedding its own search software in Vista and making it hard for PC makers and users to turn to rival products like those from Google, Microsoft was giving itself an unfair advantage.

According to this report Microsoft said it will allow third part tool like Google Desktop search in vista.

My views on this issue

  • I don’t agree to the point why Google wants to claim there search mechanism every where.
  • If Microsoft wants to keep some kind of monopoly on the operating system tools, there is nothing wrong in it, after all they creating the operating system.
  • Google Desktop search is one of the tool which makes any system with low ram slow. In short The Google software is not a great tool.

What changes Microsoft is going to do ?

  • Microsoft will create a mechanism whereby both computer makers and individuals will be able to choose a default desktop search program.
  • Allow to Select a rival programme to act as the default when they carry out desktop searches
  • The default software to be launched automatically from a number of windows in the operating system.

I would really like to know about your views on this. We all know Microsoft do make monopoly policy but then I see others doing same. I am not a big supporter of Microsoft but then Google is doing same by buying everything. Do share in comments
