Top 5 DRM boo boo list
Digital Media Rights abbreviated as DRM is a concept which deals with ethe protection of digital media being used my others.Its a set of technology or one technology that gives publishers right to or control access of digital media and even restrict to be used somewhere else.
It is generally confused with copyright which is a part of DRM itself, thats why I said before its a set of technology that can decide what to do with the media.It is a controversial topic though discussion of which will take another post.
I was able to find a set of DRM issues or boo boo list which really tells you why DRM is a controversial issue, though it is intended to get publishers more benefit to earn money and safeguard originality.
The list is as Follows:
5.Reral Networks Harmony vs Apple:
They made their harmony drm system work with ipod, apple disabled it in next firmware update, they made it work again apple disabled it again.Finally they gave up
4.Owner exclusive e book on Microsoft reader:
They even put restrictions on text to speech
3.Star force deemed malware:
It installed without warning, did not uninstall and took a toll in IDE performance
2.Sony Rootkit incident:
Shame on you if you dont know about it.Just kidding.Google it!!!
1.Zune dumbness:
Music bought from zune doesn’t work on playfor sure devices and playforsure doesn’t work on zune.AND Guess what? Both technologies are from Microsoft!!!! Great , talk about shooting yourself on the foot.
