Ultimate Guide to Synchronize Blackberry Music and Windows Media Player

My Blackberry 8520 is great when it comes to music and with new version of Blackberry Media Sync announced with some great features I decided to synchronize between windows media player and my BB media.  BB media sync also supports iTunes 7.1 and above.

Keeping  in mind a new user here are the steps you should follow. In case you have already done few of them, feel free to skip. I am using Windows 7 and Blackberry Media Sync 3.0

Music library windows 7

  • Launch Windows Media Player. Go to organize > manage libraries. This will open a pop up window where you will see all the folders which you had added to Music Library. If you want to add more, do it directly from here.

Manage Music Library

  • Once done this use the Apply Media Information changes which is under Organize as you see in the image. This will update windows media player and make it aware of all the music files you have added or removed or update ( In case you have renamed files etc. )

Update Media changes in WMP

  • Once the above step is complete Select Music menu ( in left hand side ). Now check if all your music files are under proper Artist, genre and album.  In case you see songs of same album available as two, merge them by drag drop. In short merge them. Though this is not necessary but if you do care about these information it’s required. You can see in the image below how one of the song was showing different.

Windows media player combine albums

  • Now the last step before we actually start syncing to BlackBerry mobile is to create play list.  When we will launch BB Media Sync you will know how important it is to do that. I prefer to transfer all the songs of any movie or album and for these kind of situations, Auto Play Lists are very good option.

Auto Play list in WMP

  • Select any album , right-click and choose save as Auto Play list. This will create a playlist named same as the album. You can also create play list of your favorite songs only.  You can exit Windows Media Player now.
  • Now connect your Blackberry Mobile via USB to your computer. Launch the BlackBerry Media Sync ( Download it from here if you don’t have one ).
  • Once the Media Sync application starts, you will see two tabs one which says Music and other which says Pictures. Select Music and then Windows Media Player  Playlists. This will list all the play list which you created before.

BB Media Sync

  • Select the play lists which you want to sync and hit the Sync Music Button.  This will start moving all the songs in the play list. Apart from this every time you select a play list you would see the amount of space that is left in your BB media storage top above.
  • Once the transfer is over disconnect your device and open the Music Player in the blackberry. It will start scanning and show the changes which you just made from here.

Thats it and you are all set for enjoying your music in your BlackBerry synced with Windows Media Player.  Let us know if you get stuck anywhere. Enjoy it.
