Use Vista Smart search to quickly find files before you upload

Lets say for an example how do you find an application when you want to open a program ? Still going to Program menu and then keep on scrolling ? Have you ever seen the search box which you get in start menu ? You know what it does ?

These were all the questions, I asked one of my friend, who had been using Vista since a year now. He though that search box is  just a fancy thing and never even bothered to use it.  I received similar answers when I asked a couple of my friends on this.

Vista has an integrated smart search which makes it literally rock if you know how to use it and when to use it.  This search is so fast that you can forget about where the files are, all you need is the prefix of file name.

Being available in each and every window any vista user can make of it to speed up when it comes to locating files and menu. Just look at top right of any window you open

Lets talk about the situation when it comes to uploading a file to any of your favorite website or photo sharing sites etc. When you hit the upload button, a pop window comes up which asks you to locate the file from your hard drive.

What we do most of the time is either we keep the path ready before you upload it or we just keep on hunting from one folder to another. Here is a small demo where I am showing how well you can use the search. I had lot of images in one of my folders and  I wanted to locate one of my image. Here is how I used search :

If you gout the clear idea , I am just going to my Image folder where I know I can find it and then search in thousands of picture I have with me.

You can use this search even on My computer but it would take little more time. However if you reduce the scope by telling the search which is the best place to look, the result is much faster and accurate. Hope you enjoyed this tip and use it on daily basis.
