Virtualization now on Mobile Phones
VMWare has introduced Virtualization for mobile phones like we do in PC. Specially usefule for Rich Phones with Open operating systems or any OS which supports alomost everything you can do in PC. Though it did not came as of surprise because its again OS like we have in computer but the best part is , now you can run 2 OS in your phone also.
In their own words
VMware MVP is a thin layer of software that is embedded on a mobile phone to decouple the applications and data from the underlying hardware. It is optimized to run efficiently on low power consuming and memory constrained mobile phones. The MVP currently supports a wide range of real-time and rich operating systems including Windows CE 5.0 and 6.0, Linux 2.6.x, Symbian 9.x, eCos, µITRON NORTi and µC/OS-II.
This is huge as now we can see a goal towards a common application development which will solve the problem of one application working on Nokia but not on Sony phones. Read more @ VM for mobiles ( Thanks Manav )
