Web 3.0 AI Commonsense – part 1

The next generation of Web 2.0 is emerging and its time for AI to get into the web.Yes you heard it right!! Its time now Artificial Intelligence and Intelligence to drive the and  hit the web doors to drive the racing winds of Internet.

We had been hearing about Web 2.0 from a long time but still we don’t know what is it ? Is it the fact ? I don’t think so, the fact is we just don’t realize that we use it everywhere all the time.Lets break into 3 parts and you will know in one line…

  • Web 1.0 – This is the world of static pages.I call it Read Only.
  • Web 2.0 – Dynamic and integrated with media like sound and video. Read and Write
  • Web 3.0 – Intelligence driven + Web 2.0 + AI. Read Write and execute.

Lets get into the flow of Web 3.0

What is Web 3.0 ?

Its the evolved part of Web 2.0 but highly intelligent due to the wrap of AI around it.Web 2.0 is highly mechanical Why ? Its more driven by content or keywords rather than Common Sense.

The best example I can give is of search engines. When I analyze the keywords which brings people to my blog I am stunned sometimes.I egt to know what they are looking for but they landed for something else. The only reason is because the keyword matched.

Web 3.0 will be more driven by common sense, It will be more like driven by you and me rather than “core keyword engines” . There are two example which are still evoloving and easier to understand.

Examples of evolving Web 3.0

1.Polar Rose - This technology is giving images a new definition. For an example,If you have a family photograph and you have lost it.Will it not be easier to find it on internet of you can find it with help of your mother and father name ? Polar Rose does the exact thing. They label the persons inside the image and makes it better for searching.Who drives it “commonsense” Read More about it by clicking Find images by name, facial recognition and 3D Imaging

2.Google Image labeler :I was checking in Google products to find if they added something new and here you are.The Polar Rose started like 3 months back and Now Google is doing a similar thing but i find this much smarter. This program picks up 2 random people who are participating in this beta program. Then they ask users to label it.If the label provided by both the users match You get points. But What do they get ?

  • Google gets to understand how human brain interprets images.
  • They can find the most common label give to images and integrate into the search engines for images.
  • The next move can be using these “labels” to find matches with the keyword given for any web image on the internet.Thats AI.!!! Thus they can make the algorithm much stronger by getting to know how images has to be searched which it lacks now.

You can try this beta program click here Google Image Labeler

For today I will give you a pause here, read back and ask me if you have questions. Tomorrow we will get more into combination of web 2.0 and web 3.0.

This post series is dedicated to one of my reader and friend Gili for his request in Readers Choice Week.
