Wi-Max Alternatives

Wi-Max is being seen as one of the major technology leap in the growing industry. The advantage of covering the whole city and providing higher speed and bandwidth are potential sources, but wi-max is the only player in this area. technology like Mobile-Fi and Wi-Tv can be good alternative to Wi-Max.  Now lets take a brief read about the Alternatives to Wi-Max

Mobile-Fi

Mobile-Fi or Mobile Broadband Wireless Access( IEEE 802.20 ) like wi-max aims to provide high speed connectivity for portable devices.Though it has less data transfer and coverage range , It can provide connection even if you are at speed of 250km/hr. Wi-Max gives at 100km/hr only. Mobile-Fi is ideal technology that can be used by people which are always on run. Specially on Jet or high speed trains with their laptop.

Wi-Tv

This standard termed as IEEE 802.22 for transmission of TV channels. As broadcasters switch to digital television the technology can run on analogue signal. As it works on lower spectrum, it has better signal compared to wireless broadband. This technology is still to be given a thought but can be good alternative for broadcasting TV signals.

I wrote about Wi-Max Basics and Wi-Max Future and Implementations which are definitely an interesting read.
