Would you use PING check to shutdown your machine ?
Abhishek came out with a pretty different application called as noPingShutdown. This application shutdowns or log off, reboot or power off your machine if it is not able to a ping a particular ip address.
Shutdown machine when you cannot ping
As I was trying this software, my modem got reset and took sometime to come back to normal an as I gave option to ping google.com, My machine shutdown pretty neatly without asking me anything on this.
The application is great but if you get into this kind of situation ( temporary disconnected from Internet ) you gonna just hate it there. In my opinion there should be some time delay option like for a 2-3 or even 10 minutes before the machine goes bye bye.
What do you think ? Would you use this application to shutdown your machine ?
