Live Streaming or Advanced Personalized Chat Room , That’s what I finally get after testing the Yahoo’s recent Service, Yahoo Live, which sound similar to Microsoft Live but its very different.

What is Yahoo Live

Its a streaming where you can have a chat server, live video of yours and watch other people who are live or just watching. You can keep on taking all the time , do some fun or do some good work . Probably its an Out of the box thing which I am really sorry to say will be spammed with Porn soon. ( Why ? Guess what had happened to chat rooms ). You can create channel for yourself and go live. ( Same as audio channels on skype )

Lets Break it down to pieces so we know what Inside it

• Live Video and audio of yours which is captured from your webcam
• A chat room ( Like Yahoo Chat rooms )
• Ability of other people to do a video conferencing as you can add people to list box.
• And the most cool but could be dangerous one is Adding your live video to any site through a script.( Like yahoo videos on Your tube )

Your video has 2 controls which is available to users. One can flag you offensive and other can get your video tag and can be emended on any web site.

• Advantage: Just go live and show yourself off any where. Other people need not to come to yahoo live to see it.
• Disadvantage: Tag can be copied by anybody so you just don’t have control over who should see it.

Settings and Privacy

You can adjust your cam settings and audio when you go live. Yahoo Live does ask if they can access your cam . That’s a good things as you know about it. Moreover Its gives a preview which makes your clear on things.

You can also create private channels. I have not tested it though.

Overall View for Yahoo Live

Positive:

• Good for video conferencing
• Best Place if you want to go for live tutorials or for public discussions. You can invite people, Same thing as it happens on Skype.
• Clear Video.

Negative:

• A little heavy if you don’t have a good Internet speed
• Privacy is less
• Probably in few days its going to be spammed with porn and chat bots. Its already being practiced on Yahoo Chat room and Webcams and this can be a victim to it too.
