Video: Hands on with Canvas Sliver 5 from Micromax

Micromax today launched worlds slimmest phone in India. While Gionee had this claim from sometime, Micromax takes its place by delivering a phone which is thin throughout the body length i.e. no camera bumps, no thick rear. Named as Canvas SLIVER 5, the phone is priced at Rs 17,999. We got over 30 minutes to get an idea on how the phone is, and here is my first impressions.

As of now we can only comment on its design and build. Everything else needs testing for over a week. So here you go:

When it comes to design and build, the phone does feel solid both on edges and rear. The phone is very light and you can manage it on two fingers of your hand, if you lay it flat on it. Its shiny, and has a great grip with its size. Though I will stay away from dropping on the floor as its body is made of Aluminium.

What I really liked was the rear where the camera and flash are nicely tucked into the phone. The phone is 5.1 mm throughout and Micromax shared a lot on how they did it.

When it comes to hardware,  the display is 720P which looks good, and the size is just about right with 4.8 inch. The volume buttons are on left and lock on right. The front is a rear camera, and since we only tried it out in low light condition, its definitely not built for that. We will share about day light performance when we get the review unit. The camera does come with lot of modes which can be accessed from the settings. It shows up in form of long list.

It houses a Snapdragon 410 Processor with 2 GB DDR3 RAM, 16 GB internal storage and 2000 mAH battery. The later is claimed to have high density to give you a 24 hour run.
