Windows 7 has a centralized place (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\AutoPlay) where you can configure how DVD / CD / Blue Ray Disc would behave when inserted i.e. Auto Play.
Auto Play has a biased preference. Some of us really hate when everything just starts playing by itself and some of us feel like it should. Depending on what you like Windows 7 Auto Play configurations lets you change settings for :

- Blue Ray Disc Movie
- Super Video CD
- Software and Games
- Bank CD / DVD / BD
- Cd / Dvd / BD media containing Audio, Pictures, Video
- Any external devices like Camera etc.
