Kinect for Windows Announced ; Pre-Order Now

Steve Ballmer announced Kinect for Windows so you can do your maths on excel sheet with a swipe, heh Just Kidding but the announcement is true and it’s getting released on 1st Feb 2012 , priced at 249 $, with lot of apps coming from some top vendors in 12 countries namely United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, United Kingdom. For educational purpose, Kinect is available at $149

Unlike Kinect for Xbox which is built for Far Vision, Kinect for Windows is made for near vision 50 Cm which can track gestures, body movements and can accept speech commands for Windows 7 and Windows 8. This near mode of kinect will lead to many many apps which we already are looking with development of apps like Paint. We had talked about couple of apps already at WPXBOX like Virtual Assistant, Kinect Me and So On, My prediction for Kinect for Windows will be used for major gaming experience apart from usual experience

Compared to Kinect for Xbox, this Kinect Sensor for Windows has a short  USB cable  and comes along with a connector so it can connect with other USB peripherals.

Minimum Hardware Requirement :

  • 32 bit (x86) or 64 bit (x64) processor
  • Dual-core 2.66-GHz or faster processor
  • Dedicated USB 2.0 bus
  • 2 GB RAM
