Lava recently launched a mid range Android phone with premium design and hardware configuration to spice up this segment. Aiming to deliver premium phone, Lava Icon sports a 5 inch HD display with full lamination which is just 7.7 mm thick. The side of the phone is metal finish, while the rear is glass finished.

The phone is powered by 1.3GHz Quad Core ARM Mali 400 MP2,  2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. When it comes to imaging front, it features 13 megapixel rear camera,  F2.4 aperture, 5P lens , and  SONY EXMOR sensor and dual LED flash. Those who crave for video calls, there is a  5 megapixel front camera with F2.2 aperture, 4P lens and Omni vision sensor for clicking crystal clear selfies & recording HD videos.

The phone runs Star OS which is built on Android Kitkat. We will be keenly looking into the OS to understand the kind of customisation the company has rolled out for consumers.

First Impression:

Two things I really liked about the phone. First is the design obviously. Its thin and not very heavy which makes it easy for one hand operation. The combination of metal and glass looks premium. Second is the price point for the hardware configuration. The combination of hardware and camera looks decent enough. Most of the time you are stuck with 1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM and 8 MP camera at this price point.  Lava is trying to deliver more.
